Vikings shutout Northwestern in game one, fall in game two

Mankato, Minn. – The softball team split with Northwestern on Friday. After an exciting first game shutting out the Eagles 8-0, the Vikings bobbled a little to fall 0-6 in the second game. 
 
Game 1 (W 8-0)
The first game ended after five innings thanks to the eight run rule. The damage was done in the bottom of the second when Bethany posted all eight runs of the game. The Vikings strung hits together to make it happen.
 
Amanda Edmison (Mayer, Minn./Watertown-Mayer) had two RBI on a single. Jessie Jurries (Trimont, Minn./Martin County West) also had two RBI on a single. Ashley Jensen (Delano, Minn./West Lutheran) went two for two in the game with one run and one RBI. Her and Emily Rauchman (Mankato, Minn./Mankato West) each had a double. Rauchman went two for three with two runs and one RBI.
 
Edmison pitched all five innings of the game earning the shutout. She allowed four hits and struck out two batters without recording a walk.
 
Northwestern and Bethany each had one error in the field. BLC had a total of nine hits and left five on base. The Eagles left four on base.
 
Game 2 (L 0-6)
Rauchman pitched seven innings in game two allowing five hits. She struck out three batters and walked two. Out of the six runs that came in during her time five were earned.
 
Bethany managed four hits. Dani Christie (Hutchinson, Minn./Hutchinson) went one for two. Kelsey Pekarna (Jordan, Minn./Jordan), Cortney Hallahan (Hutchinson, Minn./Holy Family Catholic) and Edmison each went one for three.
 
The Vikings left three on base and had one error in the field. Northwestern left one on base and committed no errors.
 
Next, the Vikings will host a doubleheader against Crown on April 21st at 1 p.m. Bethany is 10-21 overall and 6-7 on the conference.
