Mankato, Minn. – The Vikings took two from the Crown Strom in an Upper Midwest Athletic Conference doubleheader. Bethany defeated Crown 9-1 and then 8-0, both games lasted five innings due to the eight run rule.
Game 1 (W 9-1)
Emily Rauchman (Mankato, Minn./Mankato West) pitched the full game for the Vikings. In five innings she had four strikeouts and walked one batter. She allowed one run in her first inning of work.
Rauchman not only earned the win as a pitcher but went three for three offensively. All three of her hits were home runs tallying up six RBI. Ashley Jensen (Delano, Minn./West Lutheran) also hit a home run recording three RBI. As the designated player Kelsey Pekarna (Jordan, Minn./Jordan) went two for three.
Bethany and Crown each had one error in the field. The Vikings left one on base while the Storm left four on base.
Game 2 (W 8-0)
Rauchman as the designated player in the second game went two for three with one run and three RBI. Her two hits were doubles. Jensen went three for three with two runs and two RBI. Jensen also had two doubles.
Senior Amanda Edmison (Mayer, Minn./Watertown-Mayer) pitched five innings giving up four hits. She struck out two batters without allowing a walk.
Bethany left three runners on base and didn’t have any errors in the field. Crown left four on base and was also clean in the field.
Next, the Vikings will play in New Ulm, Minnesota on April 24th against Presentation at 3 p.m. and Minnesota-Morris at 5 p.m.
