Softball falls to Presentation, defeats Minnesota-Morris

New Ulm, Minn. – The Vikings traveled to play a split doubleheader on a neutral field facing Presentation and then Minnesota-Morris. Bethany fell to the Saints 1-7 and then defeated the Cougars 10-2.

Game 1 vs. Presentation (L 1-7)
Amanda Edmison (Mayer, Minn./Watertown-Mayer) was the starting pitcher for the Vikings throwing four and a third innings. She allowed seven runs on 11 hits. She walked one batter and struck out two. Emily Rauchman (Mankato, Minn./Mankato West) came in for the remaining two and two third innings. She allowed just one hit and struck out four batters while walking two.
 
Bethany managed three hits during the game. Ashley Jensen (Delano, Minn./West Lutheran) recorded a triple. Gena Chester (Mankato, Minn./Mankato West) and Edmison also each had a hit.
 
Bethany had two errors in the field and left seven on base. Presentation had five errors and left nine on base.
 
Game 2 vs. Minnesota-Morris (W 10-2)
Rauchman pitched the full game against the Cougars. She allowed four hits and two runs, one of which was earned. She struck out two batters and walked three.
 
Edmison led the team in RBI with four. She went two for four with a home run. Chester also went two for four with a home run, she had three RBI. Kelsey Pekarna (Jordan, Minn./Jordan) hit a double going two for four with two RBI.
 
The Vikings had a total of 10 hits and one error in the field. Minnesota-Morris had five errors. Bethany and the Cougars both left six on base.
 
Next, the softball team will travel to Ashland, Wis., to take on four different Upper Midwest Athletic Conference teams to finish out the regular season. The Vikes will take on St. Scholastica on April 27th at 2 p.m. and then Northland at 4 p.m.
