Softball drops two at UMAC Crossover

Ashland, Wis. – The softball team was unable to log a win in the first day of the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) crossover. The Vikings played St. Scholastica and Northland falling 1-9 in both games.
 
Game 1 vs. St. Scholastica (L 1-9)
Amanda Edmison (Mayer, Minn./Watertown-Mayer) pitched five innings for the Vikings. The game ended after the fifth due to the eight run rule. Edmison allowed nine runs off of 12 hits. She struck out two batters and walked three.
 
Bethany had four hits during the game. The lone RBI came from Emily Rauchman (Mankato, Minn./Mankato West)  when she hit a double in the first inning. Her double came after singles from Kelsey Pekarna (Jordan, Minn./Jordan) and Cortney Hallahan (Hutchinson, Minn./Holy Family Catholic).
 
Bethany had no errors in the field and left four on base. St. Scholastica left six on base and had one error.
 
Game 2 vs. Northland (L 1-9)
Game two also ended after five innings because of the eight run rule. Rauchman was the starting pitcher going three and two third innings. She allowed seven hits and eight runs, five of which were earned. Rauchman struck out three batters and walked three before Edmison took over. Edmison allowed three hits and one run during her one and one third innings pitched.
 
Bethany had just four hits again. The one run scored came off of Rauchman’s solo home run in the fourth inning.
 
The Vikings had four errors in the field and left six on base. Northland had two errors and left two base.
 
Bethany is now 9-10 in the UMAC.  The Vikings could be the number four seed or not make the post-season conference tournament depending on the outcome of games on April 28th. Bethany will play Northwestern and Crown on that date.
