Ashland, Wis. – The softball team finished their season splitting the last day of the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Crossover hosted by Northland. The Vikings took on Northwestern falling 1-13 and then Crown defeating the Storm 17-1.
Game 1 vs. Northwestern (L 1-13)
Amanda Edmison (Mayer, Minn./Watertown-Mayer) and Emily Rauchman (Mankato, Minn./Mankato West) split time pitching. Edmison went two and two third innings allowing 12 runs on 13 hits. She walked four batters. Rauchman came in for one and one third innings. She allowed one run on one hit and struck out one batter. The game ended after five innings due to the eight run rule.
Edmison and Dani Christie (Hutchinson, Minn./Hutchinson) both went two for two. Christie had Bethany’s only RBI in the fourth inning when she tripled to centerfield.
The Vikings had seven hits leaving five on base and committed three errors in the field. Northwestern didn’t have any errors and left seven on base.
Game 2 vs. Crown (W 17-1)
The last game of the year ended after five innings. Edmison started and finished the game allowing just two hits and one unearned run. She struck out four batters.
Edmison led the team offensively with four RBI. She went three for four; two of her hits were home runs the other was a double. Kelsey Pekarna (Jordan, Minn./Jordan) also hit a home run. Ashley Jensen (Delano, Minn./West Lutheran) went four for four contributing three RBI. Cortney Hallahan (Hutchinson, Minn./Holy Family Catholic) hit two doubles going three for five.
Bethany had a total of 16 hits and three errors in the field. The Vikings left eight on base while Crown left three. The Storm committed four errors.
The Vikings finished the season fifth in the conference, just one spot out of continuing to the UMAC Post-Season Tournament. Bethany ended the year 14-25 overall and 10-11 in the UMAC.
