Mankato, Minn. – The Viking men defeated the North Central Rams 3-0 in the soccer conference opener.
Hard work and home field advantage led to the Viking shutout. Noah Heidorn (Fergus Falls, Minn. / Fergus Falls) had four saves in his 90 minutes as keeper. His first save to keep the Rams from tying the game was a leap to the high right corner. He managed a hand on it to keep the momentum going for BLC.
Jason Beuchler (Kasson, Minn. / Kasson-Mantorville) landed the first goal for the Vikings at the 15 minute mark assisted by fellow freshman Michael Loguercio (Tavernier, Fla. / Coral Shores). Ben Moldstad (North Mankato, Minn. / Minnesota Valley Lutheran) had the second goal of the game with four minutes remaining in the first half. His goal was assisted by CK Pock (Faribault, Minn. / Faribault). Loguercio got a goal of his own in the second half.
Bethany outshot North Central 27 to eight, 14 of those shots were on goal for the Vikings. Bethany and the Rams each took seven corner kicks.
The Vikings will host Northwestern on September 15th for the second conference game of the season at 2:30 p.m. Bethany is 2-3 overall and 1-0 in the conference.
