St. Bonifacius, Minn. – The Viking women's soccer team earned an Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) win over the Crown Storm 3-1.
The Storm got on the board first scoring in the 35th minute of the game. Bethany responded three minutes later with a goal of their own when Kathryn Scislow (Lakeville, Minn. / St. Croix Lutheran) found the back of the net assisted by Paige Taylor (Coon Rapids, Minn. / Totino Grace).
The Vikings got lead in the second half, and then extended it with two more goals. Maggie LaPlante (White Bear Lake, Minn. / White Bear Lake) scored at the 58:44 mark assisted by Scislow. Junior Kindra Fairburn (Big Lake, Minn. / St. Michael-Albertville) scored in the 69th minute assisted by senior captain Jessica Wacholz (Mankato, Minn. / Mankato West).
Alexa Mowery (Fairmont, Minn. / Fairmont) was in goal the entire game, she made one save. Bethany outshot the storm 27-4; the Vikings also had a six to two corner kick advantage.
The Vikings will host Minnesota-Morris on Saturday, September 22nd at Noon in another UMAC game. Bethany is now 3-4-1 overall and 2-1-0 in the conference.
