Box Score 2 Rosemount, Minn. - The softball triangular with Finlandia University and Presentation College, originally scheduled to be Bethany's home opener for Friday and Saturday, was moved to the Irish Sports Dome in Rosemount on Sunday and Monday. The Vikings wished those games were played at home as they dropped both games Sunday night.
Bethany had a knack in their spring training games in Florida for coming back late in games to either win games or send them into extra innings. They tried to follow that same path in their first game on Sunday against Presentation College, but their rally came up short as they fell 9-5.
The Vikings fell behind early 6-2 after three innings. A 3-run sixth, highlighted with RBI singles by both Rebecca Ludewig and Angela Timm, pulled them to within 7-5 going into the final inning, but Presentation scored two insurance runs to to give them the 4-run winning margin.
Kelsey Pekarna was perfect at the plate going 3-for-3 with a double and two runs scored. Amanna Berthusen added two doubles and an RBI.
In the second game against Finlandia, Bethany did not have a baserunner until the fifth inning. By that point, they were already behind 6-0. Four different players picked up the team's four hits including Aimee Wiechmann and Berthusen who had RBI hits in the sixth inning.
Bethany's record is now at 6-8 overall. Day two of the triangular takes place on Monday back at the Irish Sports Dome with Finlandia and Presentation at 12:30. Bethany plays Finlandia at 2:30, followed by Bethany and Presentation at 4:30.
