Mankato, Minn. - On what looks to be the only good weather day of the week, the Bethany men's and women's tennis teams got onto the Bethany courts on Monday to play Martin Luther College in a UMAC matchup. The women picked up a conference win by beating the Knights 6-3, while the men lost their dual 9-0.
The women won four of the six singles matches, including Becca Kopacek with beat MLC's Jackie Keller 6-0, 6-0 at #1 singles. Rebecca Grove, who won three of her four matches last week, defeated Holly Marquardt 6-2, 6-3 at #3 singles. Ellen Tommerdahl defeated Jana Spriggs 6-2, 6-1 at #4 singles while Kasarah Smart beat Melissa Stibb 6-4, 6-1 at #6 singles.
In doubles, Kopacek and Marissa Teems defeated Keller and Carissa Kock 8-4 and Grove and Tommerdahl won over Marquardt and Spriggs 8-4 as well.
For the men, Brett Padfield, at #2 singles, had the best showing for the Vikings losing his match to Paul Koester 4-6, 3-6. Jason Buechler lost to Jordan Bence 4-6, 2-6 at #4 singles.
The women's scheduled dual with UW-Stout for Friday has already been postponed to April 24th at 4 p.m. As of now, both men's and women's home duals with North Central and St. Mary's is still on for Saturday beginning at 9 a.m.
