Macalester and Waldorf best Bethany

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 NORTHFIELD, Minn. - The tough opening season invitational continued on Saturday for the Bethany volleyball team. Three of their four matches in the St. Olaf/Carleton Invitiational were against MIAC squads. They fell in straight sets to St. Olaf and Carleton on Friday and dropped a contest to Macalester in their first match of the day, again in straight sets.

After losing the first set to Macalester 25-21, the Vikings appeared on their way to evening the match in set two when they led 17-8. Macalester scored five straight to cut their deficit to 17-13. Bethany scored three of the next four points to take a 20-14, but Macalester scored the set's 11 of the final 12 points to take it 25-21. The third set was tied at 15, before Macalester ended that set with another fury to win 25-17 and the match three sets to none.

For their second match, Bethany went away from the MIAC to play Waldorf College. They managed to win a game, but still dropped the match three sets to one: 14-25, 9-25, 25-20, 16-25.

Bethany (0-4) is back on the court next Friday and Saturday at the Hamline Invitational in St. Paul, Minn.
