Men's soccer wins UMAC opener

Box Score MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - The Bethany Lutheran College men's soccer team kept their undefeated season going with a 6-1 win against North Central in Minneapolis.

The Vikings got the scoring going early when senior Juan Garcia got his first goal of the year in the seventh minute to put Bethany ahead 1-0. North Central quickly tied things up again at one a piece in the 12th minute, but the Vikings were relentless and were able to score two more goals before the half thanks to Jorge Perez in the 17th minute and freshman Laye Kaba in the 29th minute.

Things were no different in the second half for the Vikings as Michael Loguercio scored just 29 seconds after halftime, followed by Joe Lundsten's 58th minute goal. The final goal of the night came from the player who started it all, Juan Garcia, who put one into the back of the net in the 74th minute to put the Vikings up 6-1. Garcia finished with two goals and one assist for Bethany.

The Vikings (2-0, 1-0 in UMAC) next play Saturday at Northwestern at noon.
