Men suffer first UMAC setback

Box Score MANKATO, Minn. - The Bethany men's soccer team came into Saturday's game looking to extend their undefeated UMAC record, but the University of Minnesota-Morris stood in their way. The Vikings put up a fight, but the Cougars were able to pull off the close 2-0 win.

For the first 28 minutes of the game, both teams battled for possession with neither team able to have a clear advantage. Eventually, in the 29th minute Austin Keller was able to put a roller into the corner to put Minnesota-Morris up 1-0. Six minutes later, Keller was able to do it again as he put an opposite foot kick into the net to put the Cougars up 2-0.

The lead was still 2-0 in the middle of the second half when BLC's Sid Brown's shot on goal was saved to keep the shutout. Goalkeeper Noah Heidorn had four saves for the Vikings, but the 2-0 lead was enough for the Cougars, and they held on for the win to give Bethany their second loss of the season.

Bethany men's soccer will travel to Northfield to take on St. Olaf Tuesday in a non-conference contest at 4 p.m.
