Volleyball loses pair at home

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 MANKATO, Minn. - Bethany hosted a volleyball triangular Saturday against two teams with records well over .500. The Vikings started out strong, but dropped matches to both Minn.-Morris and Buena Vista.

Bethany started the day against Minn.-Morris and won a tight first set against a UMAC with only one conference defeat coming in, 25-23. The Cougars, though, began to prove why they're one of the better teams in the conference late in the second set as they pulled away for a 25-19 win. The third set was another tight one that UMM won 25-21 and won the fourth set as well 25-17 to take the match.

Steph Koepp had a good match from the back row leading the team with 18 digs. Jessi Jurries added 13. Emily Franzen had 29 assists while Amanna Berthusen delivered 12 kills.

After Buena Vista topped Minn.-Morris in the second match, the Vikings faced off against BVU for the last match of the day.

Just like against the Cougars, the Vikings played the Beavers tough for the first two sets. Buena Vista, though, would win both sets 25-20, 25-23. The third set was all BVU as they took it 25-9 to earn the sweep.

Bethany (5-14, 4-5 in UMAC) remains out of conference for a trip to Superior, Wis. Saturday where they will take on Maranatha Baptist and UW-Superior.
