Box Score MANKATO, Minn. - Bethany did all they could to hand Northwestern their first conference loss. After the Vikings won the first two sets, the Eagles stormed back to take the final three sets in Bethany's home and season finale in UMAC volleyball action.
With postseason seeding set and seemingly nothing to play for, Bethany and Northwestern played as if everything was at stake. The Vikings, who were eliminated from postseason contention earlier in the week, wanted to end the season on a high note and the Eagles wanted to finish the conference season undefeated.
After two sets, it appeared as if Bethany would use the emotions of playing their final game to their advantage as they took the first two sets 25-19 and 25-23.
Northwestern proved why they went undefeated in conference by easily taking the final three sets 25-13, 25-15, 15-6.
Caitlin Decker led all players with 18 kills and
Amanna Berthusen added 12.
Emily Franzen led with 43 assists and had 23 digs.
Jessi Jurries led four Vikings in double figures in digs with 27.
Anna Nelson added 16 and
Steph Koepp totaled 13.
Bethany wraps up the season 7-19 overall and 6-8 in the UMAC.
