Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - Bethany kicked off the 2014 softball season with a late night doubleheader Friday at the Augsburg Dome. Macalester's bats came out hot and dealt the Vikings a season-opening sweep.

In the first game, after Macalester scored four in their half of the first, Bethany countered with three in the bottom half. Gena Chester, Aimie Wiechmann, and Nicole Starkson all reached to lead off the inning. Allison Norton walked bringing in Chester. Amanna Berthusen then knocked in Wiechmann and Starkson with a single to left to bring the Vikings within one at 4-3 after one.

Macalester continued to put runs on the board as they scored four more in the second and three in both the third and fifth innings and would win the first game 14-3 in five innings.

In the second game, Macalester used an 8-run third on their way to topping the Vikings 11-0 in five innings.

Bethany leaves for Fort Myers, Fla. on Friday for a week's worth of spring training games.
