Vikings continue play in southwest Florida

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 FORT MYERS, Fla. - Playing at the same complex the Minnesota Twins train in the spring, the Bethany softball team continued their spring training trip with a pair of games.

Things started out well for the Vikings in the first game of the day against the College of Wooster. Starting pitcher Shannon Heitz allowed only one baserunner through three innings. Gena Chester connected with a one-out double to left in the top of the third. Two batters later, Nicole Starkson drove her in with a single to center.

Bethany led 1-0 going into the bottom of the fourth before the Scots scored four times all with two outs to take command. Wooster added multiple runs in the fifth and sixth innings to make the final outcome 9-1.

The Vikings fell behind early in the second game of the day against Drew University allowing seven first inning runs as the Rangers defeated Bethany 11-0 in five innings.

Bethany has a day off Tuesday before getting back to action Wednesday for two more games beginning at 9 a.m. EDT.
