Box Score 2 CAPE CORAL, Fla. - After a day off, the Bethany softball squad was back on the diamond in southwest Florida taking part in the Gene Cusic Collegiate Classic.
In the first game, Bethany dropped an 8-3 decision to Bridgewater State (Mass.) 8-3 and later fell to Saint Mary's (ind.) 8-0 in five innings.
Gena Chester went 2-for-4 against BSU and scored Bethany's first run in the bottom of the first crossing the plate when
Amanna Berthusen singled to left. The Vikings scored twice more in the seventh when
Mandy Sletten and Chester delivered RBI hits.
In the second game, freshman pitcher
Allison Songstad settled down after a rough first inning and allowed only one base runner in innings 2-4. The game ended in the fifth when Saint Mary's Jillian Busfield homered to center.
Bethany wraps up their Florida trip Thursday with two more games.
