Box Score 2 CAPE CORAL, Fla. - The Bethany softball team ended their spring training trip to southwest Florida with a pair of games Thursday against Stevens Institute and Eastern Nazarene.
Against the Ducks of Stevens Institute in the first game, after allowing two first inning runs, the Vikings got one run back in the second and then tied it in the fourth.
Gena Chester hit a two-out, RBI single through the left side that scored
Becca Ludewig.
The Ducks scored four unanswered to take a 6-2 lead going into the seventh inning before staging a rally.
Aimie Wiechmann started the frame with a single to center and moved to second on an error.
Allison Norton delivered a run-producing hit to center to score Wiechmann. After
Nicole Starkson scored on a ground out, Norton scored on an infield single by Ludewig to cut make the score 6-5. With the tying run on second, a fly out to left ended the threat and the game.
Against Eastern Nazarene, Bethany stayed in the game after giving up two first inning runs. The Vikings loaded the bases in the bottom of the sixth with one out, but were unable to score. The Lions then plated three in the top of the seventh to go up 5-0. Chester doubled in
Adria Dahlke to make the final 5-1.
Bethany flies back to Minnesota Friday and next play Tuesday and Wednesday in the Cobber Round Robin at the West St. Paul Dome.
