MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - Both the Bethany men's and women's tennis teams got their first wins of the season Tuesday against North Central in the UMAC opener at the Baseline Tennis Center.
Some of the matches were not able to finish due to available rental time at the tennis center, but Bethany earned enough match wins in both duals to be credited with the victory.
For the men half of the six matches did not finish. Two of the three completed matches went Bethany's way as
Jacob Kubler and
Paul Riediger picked up straight sets victories.
Kubler teamed with
Ryan Koch to win their doubles match 8-4.
Troy Hoyord and
Jason Buechler won their match 9-8 (6-1 in tiebreaker) and Riediger and
Zach Carlson won 8-4.
Bethany 5, North Central 1
On the women's side, Bethany was credited with a 6-1 victory over the Rams. Four of the six singles matches were completed with
Marissa Teems, Morgan Schwartz, and
Kasarah Smart coming away with straight sets wins.
All three doubles matches went Bethany's way as well. Teems and Schwartz won 8-1, Smart and
Ashley Stahl took their match 8-2, and
Alexa Mowery and
Anna Wiechmann won their's 8-6.
Bethany 6, North Central 1
Both teams return to action Saturday against St. Scholastica in St. Peter.
