Box Score 2 WEST ST. PAUL, Minn. - After spending a week in warm and sunny Florida, the Bethany softball team continued their season back in Minnesota at the West St. Paul Dome in the Cobber Round Robin hosted by Concordia-Moorhead.
Shannon Heitz pitched well in the opening game against Finlandia, but the Vikings fell 2-0. Heitz allowed four hits and struck out three. Finlandia's lone runs came in the third on a pair of bases loaded walks.
Gena Chester, Rebecca Ludewig, and
Amanda Sletten picked up Bethany's three hits.
Against Concordia-Moorhead, it started out well for the Vikings as Ludewig smacked Bethany's first home run of the season with a two-run shot to left-center in the first inning. That lead didn't hold long though as the Cobbers countered with two in the bottom of the first, four in the second, and two more in the third. They added three in the sixth to make the final 11-3 in favor of the Cobbers.
Eight of the nine batters for Bethany collected at least one hit with Chester and
Angela Timm each getting two.
The Cobber Round Robin continues Wednesday with Bethany playing Presentation College at 10 a.m. and Finlandia at 1 p.m. (weather pending).
