Box Score 2 WEST ST. PAUL, Minn. - It's been a rough start for the Bethany softball team coming up empty-handed in the win column in the early season. That changed Wednesday as freshman pitcher
Allison Songstad threw a 4-hit shutout as the Vikings topped Finlandia 1-0 at the Cobber Round Robin.
Bethany's lone run came in the bottom of the third.
Adria Dahlke singled to lead off the frame. After advancing to second on a sacrifice, Dahlke came home when
Gena Chester doubled.
That one run stood up as Songstad held the Lions at bay. In the final three innings, Songstad faced the minimum, allowing only one hit and retired Finlandia in order in the seventh to preserve the 1-0 win to pick up her first collegiate win on the mound.
The Vikings are now off until April 1 when they face Martin Luther for a doubleheader in New Ulm.
