Box Score 2 CAPE CORAL, Fla. - Playing in perfect weather conditions (70s, sunny, slight breeze, not a cloud in the sky), the Bethany softball team kicked off its spring training trip with a pair of games in the sunshine state.
In the first game on Sunday, the Vikings outhit Dominican (Ill.) University eight to three, but fell behind early and were unable to comeback falling to the Stars 8-1.
Rebecca Ludewig drove in the lone run with a fourth inning triple down the left field line that scored
Amanna Berthusen. Ludewig had a pair of hits as did
Aimie Wiechmann and
Allison Norton.
Next, against Olivet College, Bethany jumped out on top first. In the bottom of the first, with
Nicole Starkson on first, Norton blooped an infield single moving Starkson over to third. Berthusen then singled to score Starkson.
That 1-0 lead held until the fourth before Olivet scored all 15 of their runs in the frame.
The Vikings are back at it Monday when they take on the College of Wooster at 9 a.m. and Drew University at 11 a.m. (EST).
