With the regular season winding down, the Bethany men's and women's tennis teams faced two tough UMAC opponents in Northwestern and St. Scholastica and both squads dropped both matchups.
On Friday at home against Northwestern,
Paul Riediger was Bethany's lone winner for the men as the Vikings fell to the Eagles 7-2. At No. 6 singles, Riediger easily won his matchup 6-1, 6-3 over Cole Grasto. At No. 3 doubles, he teamed with
Zach Carlson to top Cole and Trevor Grasto 8-6. Carlson lost a tight match at No. 5 singles to Trevor Grasto losing 10-5 in the third set.
Saturday in Duluth against St. Scholastica, the Vikings had a tough time against the Saints falling 9-0.
The women lost to both Northwestern and St. Scholastica by 9-0 scores. Against the Eagles, Bethany's best showing came at No. 1 doubles where
Marissa Teems and
Morgan Schwartz lost their match 8-4. Saturday against the Saints,
Anna Wiechmann won the most games in her match at No. 5 singles.
Both teams wrap up the regular season Monday against Martin Luther at 3 p.m. at Lifetime Fitness in Lakeville.
