LAKEVILLE, Minn. - The men's tennis bounced back nicely following a loss to Northwestern earlier in the day to top Minnesota-Morris in UMAC matches Friday at the Lifetime Fitness Center.
The Vikings took five of the six singles matches from the Cougars with four of them in straight sets fashion. The easiest victory came at No. 6 singles when
Paul Riediger only lost one game to his opponent, Brian Nyakunzi. Other straight sets wins for Bethany came from
Troy Hoyord (6-1, 6-2),
Jason Buechler (6-3, 6-1), and
Zach Carlson (6-2, 6-3). At No. 1 singles,
Jacob Kubler topped Dakota Frazier in three sets 6-3, 3-6, 1-0 (10-2).
In doubles, Hoyord/Buechler and Carlson/Riediger won both their matches 8-1 as Bethany came away with a 7-2 team victory.
Earlier against Northwestern, Buechler and Riediger were victorius in their matches, but the Vikings fell to the Eagles 7-2.
The Vikings return to the courts Friday when they host North Central.
