Men's soccer drops season-opening pair in Iowa

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 STORM LAKE, Iowa - The Bethany men's soccer team kicked off their season Friday and Saturday at the Buena Vista Tournament in Storm Lake. The Vikings were competitive in both games, but fell in both games to Buena Vista and Hamline.

Friday night against Buena Vista, the game was scoreless until the 86th minute when, in a blur, the Beavers' Kwame Antwi scored a pair of goals 28 seconds apart.

Bethany's Brodrick Brown scored his first collegiate goal in the final minute to make the final 2-1.

Against Hamline, Bethany couldn't get a shot past Pipers' netminder Derrick Mora as they fell 2-0. Gilbert Ghong scored both of Hamline's goals with the first one coming in the 34th minute. Matt Bitter had six saves for Bethany in net.

The Vikings have their home opener Wednesday against Gustavus Adolphus at 7 p.m.
