Box Score MANKATO, Minn. - After a nearly two week layoff, the Bethany volleyball squad was back in action as they played host to Northland College in their home opener and UMAC opener. After a slow start, the Vikings dominated and swept the Lumberjills 3-0.
Bethany fell behind 7-1 early in the first set before clawing their way back in and would eventually tie it at 14 following a kill from
Kristen Mielke. The teams exchanged points until the set was tied at 24. The Vikings closed it out with back-to-back kills from
Meagon Sons and
Brooke Hagen to take the set 26-24.
The Vikings won the next two sets handily 25-15, 25-7. The third set saw Bethany win 12 points in a row.
Amanna Berthusen led with 14 kills.
Jessi Jurries had 12 digs and
Emily Franzen had a whopping 44 assists.
Bethany (2-7, 1-0 UMAC) plays host to St. Scholastica Saturday at 1 p.m.
