Box Score ASHLAND, Wis. - The Bethany men's soccer team had opportunities in a hand full of matches in their first eight contests, but had been unable to taste victory so far in 2014. Against Northland on Saturday, that changed as the Vikings notched their first victory 2-1 over the Lumberjacks.
After a scoreless first half,
Benjamin Moldstad put the Vikings up in the 51st minute when he scored his third goal of the season off an assist from
Julio Garcia.
In the 77th minute,
Chan Park put Bethany up 2-0 off a feed from
Broderick Brown.
Northland scored in the 88th minute to cut the deficit in half, but didn't threathen again in the final minutes.
The Vikings outshot Northland 29-4 and put 16 shots on goal compared the NC's 3.
Bethany (1-7-1, 1-2-1 in UMAC) return home to face North Central Friday at 7:15 p.m.
