Box Score MANKATO, Minn. - After kicking off the 2014 campaign with a weekend tournament in Storm Lake, Iowa, the Vikings men's soccer team played in front of the home team crowd for the first time this season. Gustavus Adolphus made the short trek from St. Peter to provide the opposition and after only a one goal lead at halftime, the Gusties proved too much in the second half and ran away with a 7-0 win.
The scoring started quickly for Gustavus. Bethany goalie
Matt Bitter made a nice save off a Ryan Tollefsrud shot, but the rebound went right to Jason Schwab to kicked it in the left side of the net for a 1-0 GAC lead in the game's fourth minute. That was the only goal the Gusties got in the first half.
The second half was a different story. Six shots went in including Schwab's second goal of the night on a penalty kick. Braden Schmid and Brett Ylonen combined to get the shutout win for Gustavus.
Bethany (0-3) returns home Sunday to take on Wisconsin Lutheran at 2:15 p.m.
