Box Score Cougars Top Vikings in Three

MANKATO, Minn. – On Saturday afternoon the Bethany volleyball team had an Upper Midwest Athletic Conference match up with the Cougars from Minn.-Morris. The Cougars defeated Bethany in three games by scores of 15-25, 20-25, 21-25. The Vikings fall to (4-16, 1-4) on the season following the match.

Minn.-Morris is currently in first place in the conference with a record of (14-8, 4-0) on the season.
Marissa Ekness led the Cougars with 14 kills on the afternoon while teammate
Brooke Decker had 31 set assists.

For the Vikings offensively,
Alannah Menk (St. Cloud, Minn./Sauk Rapids-Rice) led the Vikings with 11 kills.
Meagan Sons (Green Isle, Minn./Central) and
Kristen Mielke (New Germany, Minn./Mayer Lutheran) finished with seven kills apiece. Â
Alexandra Grejtak (New Ulm, Minn.) tallied up 31 set assists in the conference match.

Defensively Bethany had 36 total digs against Minn.-Morris.
Jasmine Carlson (Windom, Minn.) and
Jessica Grimsley (Waconia, Minn./Mayer Lutheran) led the way with eight digs each.

Next on the schedule for the Bethany volleyball team is a non-conference match up against Waldorf on Tuesday, October 13 starting at 7 p.m. in the Sports and Fitness Center. Come out and cheer on the Vikings volleyball team.
