First Place Eagles Defeat Vikings

 
MANKATO, Minn. – The Northwestern Eagles volleyball team came to town on Tuesday night and proved why they were atop the UMAC standings. They defeated the Vikings 3-0 with scores of 25-11, 25-18, and 25-9 who now fall to (4-15, 1-3 UMAC).
 
This was the first and only meeting of the season between the two conference foes. Kristen Mielke (New Germany, Minn./ Mayer Lutheran) paced the Vikings with seven kills on the night while Meagan Sons (Green Isle, Minn./ Central) trailed with four. The Vikings were led in assists by Alexandra Grejtak (New Ulm, Minn.) who recorded 15 on the night.
 
Jasmine Carlson (Windom, Minn.) led the Vikings with eight digs, while Anna Nelson (Cannon Falls, Minn.) recorded six, and Jessica Grimsley (Waconia, Minn./ Mayer Lutheran) had five.
 
The Vikings next be hosting the Cougars of Minnesota-Morris on Saturday, October 10^th at 3 p.m . The Cougars are currently second in the UMAC conference with a record of 11-8, and are 2-0 in conference play. Come on out and show your support this Saturday in the North Gym.
