Tennis teams in action in Minneapolis

MINNEAPOLIS - Both the men's and women's tennis played two matches Saturday at the Baseline Tennis Center in Minneapolis. The men lost to Buena Vista 7-2 and to Hamline 9-0. The women fell to UW-Stout 6-3 and to Hamline 8-1.

For the men, newcomers Brent Heflin and Carter Dahl came away winners at No. 3 and No. 4 singles respectively against Buena Vista. Heflin won in straight sets, including a first set tiebreaker. Dahl only lost two games in winning his match easily.

Buena Vista 7, Bethany 2

Against Hamline, Jason Buechler came the closest to victory. He lost his match at No. 4 singles in the third set.

Hamline 9, Bethany 0

For the women, Rachel Rosemore was a two-time winner. She won her No. 2 singles match with Ellen Miller of UW-Stout 7-6, 6-0 and gave the Vikings their lone win against the Pipers by defeating Emily Butler at No. 1 singles in a tiebreaking third set. She was close to getting two more victories in No. 1 doubles with Morgan Schwarz. The duo lost 8-6 against UW-Stout and 8-5 against Hamline.

UW-Stout 6, Bethany 3

Danielle Belisle gave Bethany their other win at No. 6 singles against Makenzie Williams of UW-Stout, winning in a third set tiebreak.

Hamline 8, Bethany 1

The women are off until March 21 while the men take on Simpson and Ripon Saturday in Owatonna.
