Box Score 2 CAPE CORAL, Fla. - This year's Bethany softball squad now has something in common with the 2013 team that reached the NCAA Tournament. That team won four spring training games in Florida to set a program record. They now have company as the 2015 edition won two games Friday and head back to Minnesota with four victories on their resume from southwest Florida.
Against Wisconsin Lutheran to start the day, after scoring one in the top of the second, Bethany scored seven in the third to take an 8-0 lead.Â
Dani Emkes doubled to lead off the frame. Two batters later,Â
Katy Snyder drove her home with a single up the middle.Â
Anna Pipenhagen's single, two batters later, drove in Snyder. After a walk loaded the bases,Â
Adria Dahlke's single platedÂ
Cindy Pawlitschek.Â
Rachel Kurtenbach delivered the final run-producing hit of the inning with a single to center.
Desi Becker held the Warriors at bay striking out four in the 10-5 win.
Five Vikings had a pair of hits in the 13-hit attack.Â
Magen Meyer also drove in two runs.
Bethany jumped out to another early lead against Alfred State. After striking out the side in the top of the first, Pipenhagen drove in the game's first run in the bottom half with a single up the middle that scored Emkes.
Emkes andÂ
Aimie Wiechmann helped put Bethany up 3-0 in the third. After Emkes walked to lead off, Wiechmann laid down a bunt. The Alfred State catcher threw wildly to first. As the ball rolled nearly all the way to the fence, Bethany's two fastest runners were busy circling the bases to add on to the lead.
The Pioneers scored twice in the fifth to make it a one run game. Bethany countered with a two-out rally to get those runs back and then some. Pipenhagen started with a ground rule double.Â
Amber Schulz followed with a double in the gap to left center to score Pipenhagen. Dahlke brought home Schulz with a single to center and would score on a single by Pawlitschek.
Dahlke finished the second game 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored. Pipenhagen went 3-for-4 at the plate with two RBIs. She got the win on the mound striking out 13 Alfred State batters.
Bethany plays their first games in Minnesota Wednesday at the Cobber Round Robin at the West St. Paul Dome.
