Box Score 2 ST. PAUL, Minn. - In a doubleheader moved from Saturday to Sunday and moved from Mankato to St. Paul, the Bethany softball team dropped a pair of games to Macalester Sunday.
The first game was scoreless through four innings before Bethany put a crooked number on the scoreboard in the bottom of the fifth.Â
Rachel Kurtenbach walked to lead off the frame and moved to third on a sacrifice and an error.
 AfterÂ
Dani Emkes stole second,Â
Katy Snyder drove both of them in with a single up the middle. Two batters later,Â
Anna Pipenhagen doubled to left center to score Snyder to put Bethany up 3-0.
On the mound, Pipenhagen held the Scots scoreless through six. Two of Macalester's first three batters in the seventh hit solo home runs and they scored the tying run with two outs and the game would go extras.
Desi Becker came on to relieve Pipenhagen and retired the first two Scots in the eighth. Erin Slater singled and Nikki Caicedo followed with a 2-run shot to left center. Macalester would hold on for a 5-3 win.
In the second game, Macalester scored two both the first and third innings and added three more in the fourth en route to an 8-0 win.
Bethany (6-8) is scheduled to host Martin Luther for a doubleheader Monday at 3 p.m.
