Box Score 2 MORRIS, Minn. - The Bethany softball team earned a road split of a doubleheader Saturday against one of the UMAC's better teams in Minn.-Morris.
The opening game started out nicely for the Vikings. After
Katy Snyder reached on an error,
Anna Pipenhagen belted her third home run of the season to give Bethany a 2-0 first inning lead.
The score remained 2-0 until the sixth when Bethany added three more runs.
Dani Emkes walked to lead off the frame and would move to second on a bunt single from
Allison Norton.
Amber Schulz's RBI double plated Emkes.
Angela Timm's RBI single then scored Norton. Three batters later, Snyder delivered an RBI double that scored Timm to make it 5-0 Vikings.
On the mound, Pipenhagen was brilliant through six innings striking out 11 batters while only giving up two hits. Minn.-Morris put a rally together in the seventh to make things interesting though. The first batters all collected base hits with three of them scoring. After two outs were recorded, a wild pitch scored the fourth run and moved the tying run to third base. Pipenhagen retired the final batter on a comebacker to preserve the 5-4 win.
The Cougars took the second game in five innings 14-0.
Bethany (13-21, 7-12 in UMAC) wraps up the regular season Tuesday in St. Bonifacius for a UMAC crossover against Crown and Minn.-Morris.
