Softball team ends season at Crown

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 ST. BONIFACIUS, Minn. - Having already been eliminated from UMAC postseason contention, the Bethany softball team wrapped up their season Tuesday with a pair of games at a UMAC crossover event at Crown College.

The Vikings battled Crown in their first game and took an early 2-run lead in the first. Aimie Wiechmann singled to lead off the game. After getting sacrificed to second, Wiechmann would come around to score on an RBI single from Anna Pipenhagen. Pipenhagen would score two batters later on a Crown error.

Crown equaled the score in the third with a 2-out rally and it remained 2-2 until the bottom of the seventh. The Storm used another 2-out rally to score the game-winning run on an RBI single to left from Alisha Promis.

Against Minn.-Morris in the second game, BLC's Desi Becker and UMM's Mackenzie Weatherly were engaged in a pitcher's duel with neither hurler giving up a run through five innings.

After giving up a single to the second batter of the game, Becker held the Cougars hitless until the sixth before the Cougars were able to scratch the game's first run with the help of three singles. Minn.-Morris added two insurance runs in the seventh to take the game 3-0.

Bethany ends the season with a 13-23 overall record and 7-14 mark in the UMAC.
