Box Score Vikings Men's Soccer ends in tie with Crown

ST. BONIFACIUS, Minn. – The Vikings men's soccer team opened up the 2015 Upper Midwest Athletic Conference season with a 1-1 tie in two overtimes against the Crown Storm on the road.

The Vikings entered play looking for their first win of the season. Bethany scored their first and final goal in the 35
th minute of play as
Jorge Perez (Colorado Springs, Colo./Fountain Fort Carson) scored his second goal of the season off a scramble from the corner of the field. Bethany saw signs of improvement on the offensive end as they attempted 21 shots with 11 of them counting as shots on goal. Crown would answer with a goal of their own in the second period of play as Ger Jones scored a goal.

The starting goalkeeper for the Vikings,
Matt Bitter (Bemidji, Minn.) faced five shots on goal tonight to earn the no decision.

The Vikings (0-4-1, 0-0-1 in UMAC) return to action next Friday, September 18 when they travel to North Central for a UMAC matchup starting at 2 p.m.
