Box Score 2 Softball Team Opens Up 2016 Season

WEST ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Bethany Softball team kicked off the 2016 season with a non-conference doubleheader against Macalester College on Wednesday afternoon. The games were played at the West St. Paul Dome. The Scots swept the Vikings by scores of 9-1 and 14-0.

Game OneBatting third in the Vikings lineup and pitching was
Anna Pipenhagen (Elk River, Minn.). The sophomore went 3-3 at the plate, with a double and one run batted in. On the mound, she struck out eight batters while giving up seven hits and five earned runs.

Junior
Christina Wickingson (Mason, Wis.) and sophomore
Katy Snyder (Mankato, Minn.) each had one hit in the first game of the doubleheader.

Game TwoThe Scots kept up their offensive dominance by getting on the board early in the contest. Macalester had two huge innings, scoring five runs in the top of the third and eight in the top of the sixth after collecting 12 hits.

The two hits for the Vikings came off the bat of
Anna Pipenhagen and
Magen Meyer (Spring Valley, Minn./Hope Lutheran).

Up next:Bethany (0-2) will travel to Fort Myers, Florida to participate in the 2016 Gene Cusic Classic. Games begin on Sunday, March 6
