Lumberjacks Take Two From Vikings

 
MANKATO, Minn. – The Bethany baseball team began the 2016 Upper Midwest Athletic Conference portion of their schedule on Sunday afternoon against the Northland Lumberjacks. The double header against the Lumberjacks was featured as the UMAC Game of the Week.
 
The Basics

Game One:
Clay Anderson (Ramsey, Minn.) got the Vikings on the board in the bottom of the second inning, singling up the middle to plate Alek Zentzis (Forest Lake, Minn.). Nick Caldeen (Blaine, Minn.) hit his third home run in the sixth inning to bring the Vikings within one of the Lumberjacks. Later in the inning, Anderson drove a single up the middle, scoring two runners to give the Vikings a 5-4 lead heading into the seventh inning. The Lumberjacks stuck for five runs in the final three innings, taking game one 9-5.
 
Zentzis started on the hill for the Vikings. The junior stuck out seven batters in seven innings of work.
 
Game Two:
Nolan Grose (Waterville, Minn.) paced the offensive attack in the second game of the double header. The junior finished the game with four singles up the middle, and an RBI. Anderson, Zentzis, Danny Kneeland (Windom, Minn.), and Drew Quame (Eagle Lake, Minn.) each had two hits in the game. Anderson collected three RBIs as well.
 
Nick Dewanz (New Ulm, Minn.) suffered the mound loss for the Vikings.
