MANKATO, Minn. – The Bethany softball team played host to the Northwestern Eagles on Wednesday afternoon in an Upper Midwest Athletic Conference doubleheader. The Eagles swept the Vikings by scores of 1-0 and 12-1.
 
Bethany falls to 4-14 overall and 1-3 in conference play this season.
 
Game One: Northwestern 1, Bethany Lutheran 0
Sophomore Anna Pipenhagen (Elk River, Minn.) pitched a gem for the Vikings in game one of the doubleheader. The right-hander pitched all seven innings of the contest, striking out seven Eagle batters and only surrendering one hit the entire game.
 
Offensively, Amber Schulz (Amboy, Minn.) recorded the lone hit for the Vikings against the Eagles.
 
Game Two: Northwestern 12, Bethany Lutheran 1
Bethany scattered six hits against the Eagles in the nightcap. Christina Wickingson (Mason, Wis.), Kendra Porath (Wyoming, Minn.), Pipenhagen, Cindy Pawlitschek (St. Paul, Minn.), Angela Timm (Wood Lake, Minn.), and Magen Meyer (Spring Valley, Minn.) each had one hit in the second game of the afternoon.
