Men's Team Sweeps pair of Matches while Women's Team Splits
MANKATO, Minn. – On Saturday, the Bethany men's and women's tennis teams played their first match at the BLC Tennis Courts. On the cold, frigid day, the men's team defeated both North Central and Minnesota Morris, while the women's team split with the same two teams.
The men's team improves to 4-10 overall, and 3-1 in Upper Midwest Athletic Conference play.
The women's team stands at 3-12 overall, and 2-2 in UMAC play.
Women's Tennis:
Bethany 0, North Central 0
In the first match of the day, the women's tennis team earned their second conference victory of the season, defeating the Rams from North Central. Earning match wins for Bethany was
Taylor Nordhausen (St. James, Minn.),
Alicia Kranz (Arlington, Minn.),
Megan Braatz (Sun Prairie, Wis.),
Sabrina Batalden (Anoka, Minn.),
Madalyn Elmquist (South St. Paul, Minn.), and
Kaitlyn Bolte (Colorado Springs, Colo.).
In doubles competition,
Nordhausen and
Kranz along with
Braatz and
Elmquist won the first two matches for Bethany.
Justine Bennett (River Falls, Wis.) and
Batalden finished the doubles competition with a 8-0 victory over the Rams.
Minnesota Morris 6, Bethany 3
In the afternoon match, it was the Cougars earning their second UMAC match of the season, taking down the Vikings. In singles competition,
Elmquist and
Bennett each won their match at the number five and six spot in the Vikings lineup.
Braatz and
Elmquist helped Bethany at the number two doubles spot, winning 8-4 over their opponent.

Bethany earned the season sweep of the Rams in the opening match of the day.
Brent Heflin (Sioux Falls, S.D.),
Jacob Kubler (Shakopee, Minn.),
Andrew Jelken (Luverne, Minn.),
Dalton Werckman (Foley, Minn),
Dexter Jackson (Chicago, Ill.), and
Jordan Poff (Blaine, Minn.) all recorded a win for the Vikings in singles competition.
In doubles competition,
Heflin and
Werckman teamed up at the one number doubles spot, winning their match 8-1.
Jelken and
Jackson and
Kubler and
Robbie Stevens (Cathedral City, Calif.) teamed up for a doubles victory over the Rams on Saturday morning.
Bethany 8, Minnesota Morris 1
The Vikings showed their dominance on Saturday afternoon in front of their home crowd, defeating the Cougars in the final match of the day.
