Vikings and Storm Split UMAC Doubleheader

WACONIA, Minn. – The Vikings baseball team traveled to play Crown College in Upper Midwest Athletic Conference baseball on Monday afternoon. The Storm won the first game with a walk-off homerun in the 10
th inning before the Vikings took game two of the split doubleheader.
 
Game One: Crown 5, Bethany Lutheran 4 (F/10)
In the bottom of the second inning, Alek Zentzis (Forest Lake, Minn.) hit a 400 plus foot home run to right field to put the Vikings on the scoreboard first. Bethany would extend their lead to 4-1 before Crown stormed back to score four unanswered runs to take game one, 5-4.
 
Kevin Harris (El Paso, Texas), Brandyn Olsen (Blue Earth, Minn.), and Drew Quame (Eagle Lake, Minn.) each had two hits for the Vikings in game one. Quame also recorded two RBIs for the Vikings. On the mound, Olsen pitched the game's first 7.2 innings, allowing three earned runs while striking out 12 batters.
 
Game Two: Bethany Lutheran 10, Crown 5
Bethany scattered 12 hits in game two, while scoring runs in five of the nine innings of play. Leading the way for the Vikings was Harris with three hits and one run scored. Quame had another two hits as the Vikings first basemen. Zentzis hit his second home run of the day in the third inning. Several other players in the lineup recorded a hit for Bethany.
 
Cody Leitner (Red Wing, Minn.) picked up his first win of the season on the hill. The lefty pitched five strong innings, allowing three runs and striking out three.
