MANKATO, Minn. – The Bethany baseball team played their final home games of the 2016 season on Wednesday afternoon against the North Central Rams. Bethany earned the series sweep of the Rams, winning 10-0 and 14-4
Game one: Bethany Lutheran 10, North Central 0 (F/7)
Providing the offensive highlights was
Alek Zentzis (Forest Lake, Minn.) and
Nick Caldeen (Blaine, Minn.).
Zentzis finished the game with two home runs and three RBIs for the Vikings.
Caldeen added a three-run home run, triple, and single for a total of four RBIs in the efforts over North Central. On the season,
Zentzis has hit eight home runs while
Caldeen has contributed with six to total 23 as a team.
Nick Dewanz (New Ulm, Minn.) picked up this first win on the mound. The sophomore pitched all seven innings, allowing four hits while striking out seven batters.
Game two: Bethany Lutheran 14, North Central 4 (F/7)
The lone senior on the roster, pitcher
Collin Risting (Eagle Lake, Minn.) got the start on the mound in the final home game of the 2016 season. The right-hander worked 5.2 innings, allowing two earned runs while striking out five batters. Offensively,
Drew Quame (Eagle Lake, Minn.) had three hits and four RBIs to pace the attack for Bethany.
Zentzis and
Brandyn Olsen (Blue Earth, Minn.) each had two hits.
