Box Score Women's Soccer Earns First Win of Season
BELOIT, Wis. – On Sunday afternoon, the women's soccer team played their second match of the season against Beloit College in Wisconsin. The Vikings earned their first victory of the 2016 season, winning 2-1 against the Buccaneers.
Early in the first period, freshman
Rachel Bitter (Bemidji, Minn.) scored a goal to put the Vikings ahead 1-0. The goal by Bitter was assisted by
Lydia Wildauer (Port Washington, Wis.). Beloit would answer with a goal of their own to knot the game at 1-1 heading into halftime.
With just under 15 minutes to play in regulation,
Bitter again found the back of the net to help lead the Vikings to a 2-1 victory, and first victory of the 2016 season.
Emily Barthel assisted on the game winning goal.
Bitter has now scored all three of the Vikings goals this season.
The women's soccer team will complete the road trip on Monday morning with a contest against the Rockford Regents.
