Jill Bailey and the Vikings Tennis Teams Begin 2017 Season
OWATONNA, Minn. – First-year Head Coach Jill Bailey and the Bethany Lutheran men's and women's tennis teams began the 2017 season on Saturday afternoon at the Owatonna Tennis Center. The men's team played both Edgewood College and Grand View University while the women's team had a match against Grand View only.
MEN: Bethany Lutheran 5, Grand View 4
Singles:
Dalton Werckman,
Carter Dahl, and
Dexter Jackson each earned a match win for the Vikings in their first competition of the spring season en route to a victory over Grand View.
Doubles:
Laine Larson and
Jacob Kubler teamed up for a convincing doubles win at the number two position. Carter Dahl and
Dexter Jackson followed suite as they finished off the victory over Grand View.
Bethany Lutheran 5, Edgewood 4
To complete the weekend sweep, the Vikings defeated Edgewood College to improve their overall season record to 3-1.
Singles:
Larson, Dahl, and Jackson earned a match win for the Vikings. Dahl and Jackson went 2-0 in their singles matches on Saturday.
Doubles:
Larson and Kubler along with Dahl and Jackson stayed hot in their second duo match of the day, winning 8-3 and 8-1 to go 2-0 at the Owatonna Tennis Center on Saturday.
***During the 2016 tennis season, Edgewood won their conference championship and advanced to competed in the NCAA Tournament. Congratulations to the men's tennis team on the victory over the Eagles.
WOMEN: Grand View 8, Bethany Lutheran 1
Sophomore
Ryana Sadaka played at the number five singles position in the Vikings lineup. The sophomore earned the lone match win for the women's tennis team in the efforts against Grand View.
UP NEXT:
The men's team will next compete on February 4
th against Bethel University and Wartburg College while the women's team will take on Northwestern College from Iowa. All matches will be played at the Owatonna Tennis Center.
