MANKATO, Minn. – The Bethany Vikings (8-15, 4-7) defeated the North Central Rams (1-17, 0-12) on Wednesday night 3-0 (25-16, 25-18, 25-20). The Vikings have now played the Rams three times this season and they have taken care of business each time.
 
The first set was back-and-forth early on with the Vikings ahead slightly 9-6. After the Rams scored to make it 9-7, the Vikings went on a roll and stretched their lead to 19-10. BLC didn't look back after that and won the first set in convincing fashion, 25-16. Set two was knotted at 12-12, but the Vikings once again found separation by winning eight of the next nine points to take a 20-13 lead. The Vikings went on to win set two by a score of 25-18. The Vikings controlled set three from the outset, winning by a score of 25-20 to take the match.
 
The Vikings used a balance attack to soundly put away the Rams. Sophomore Megan Rutt led the team with 13 kills, dominating the attack for the Vikings. Five other Vikings had at least five kills including Rachel Sorensen with eight and Haley Domonoske with seven. Altogether, the Vikings tallied 44 kills compared to 25 for the Rams. Overall point totals were 56 to 29 in favor of the Vikings.
 
The Rams put up a fight all night long, but struggled to put away points. The Vikings had 51 digs as a team, led by junior Jasmine Carlson with 13. She also led the team with 33 assists.
 
Up Next: The Vikings remain home to play a UMAC contest against Northland and a non-conference game against Buena Vista on Saturday, October 14. The Vikings play Northland at 1 PM and Buena Vista at 5 PM.
