NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The Vikings volleyball team (7-13) traveled to St. Olaf (14-6) to battle with the Oles in a non-conference match on Monday evening. The Vikings competed in the match, but the Oles came away with a 3-0 (25-20, 25-19, 25-17) win.
The Vikings took a quick 6-3 lead in the first set, but the Oles put together a four-point run to take a 7-6 advantage. The Oles never trailed after that and won the first set 25-20. In the second set, the Vikings found themselves down 15-9, but they put together a run of eight straight points to take a 17-15 lead. The Oles then responded with a six point run and would go on to win the second set 25-19. In the third set, the Oles were able to get a comfortable lead early and win 25-17.
Alannah Menk led the Vikings will 11 kills, followed by Megan Rutt with nine. Jasmine Carlson had 24 assists for the Vikings and Alannah Menk and Anna Nelson each had five digs.
Up Next: The Vikings have another non-conference match on Wednesday, October 4 against Buena Vista in Storm Lake, Iowa. The match will begin at 7 PM.
