Vikings Salvage Split with Newbury

TUCSON, Ariz. – Coming off a win yesterday against Simpson College, the Bethany Lutheran baseball team returned to the diamond on Friday morning with a doubleheader against Newbury College. The Nighthawks defeated the Vikings 2-1 in eight innings in game one before the Vikings stormed back to salvage the split. With the win, the Vikings improve to 2-6 on the season.

GAME ONE: Newbury College 2, Bethany Lutheran 1 (8 innings):
Sophomore Anthony Radloff (Green Bay, Wis.) started on the mound for Head Coach Ryan Kragh. The left-hander pitched the entire eight innings, giving up one earned run while striking out seven batters. The offense for the Vikings had numerous chances to score runs and put the game away, but the Nighthawks defense continued to shut down the rallies, which kept them in the ball game.

Bethany Lutheran compiled 11 hits compared to the Nighthawks eight hits. Leading the way was Walker Linde (Wells, Minn.), Nolan Grose (Waterville, Minn.), and Jordan Grams (Mankato, Minn.). The three of them combined for seven total hits

GAME TWO: Bethany Lutheran 16, Newbury College 6:
