Box Score 2 BLC Softball Begins 2017 Cobber Round Robin with Victory

WEST ST. PAUL, Minn. – Returning to play for the first time since the Tucson Invitational Games, the Bethany Lutheran softball team began the 2017 Cobber Round Robin on Wednesday morning at the West St. Paul Dome.

To begin the 2017 Cobber Round Robin, the Vikings played the Lumberjills in a non-conference contest starting at 10 a.m. Head Coach Dan Nessler and his Vikings scattered nine hits in six innings of work to earn their fourth victory of the campaign. Leading the way for BLC was junior
Anna Pipenhagen (Elk River, Minn.). The right-handed batter finished with three singles while Senior
Christina Wickingson (Mason, Wis.) added two hits, one being a double.
Pipenhagen relieved Wickingson in the circle when the contest was tied 2-2 to eventually come away with the win. The right-hander is now 4-4 on the season.
Game Two: Finlandia University 17, Bethany Lutheran 5:
To conclude the first day of games, the Vikings fell to the Lions in a game that saw many runners cross home plate. BLC tallied eight hits on five runs while Finlandia laced 16 hits to come away with a non-conference win over Bethany Lutheran.
Offensively, Anna Pipenhagen led the Vikings with two hits to go along with one RBI. Four other Vikings recorded an RBI in the efforts against Finlandia.
UP NEXT:
On Thursday, the Vikings will play the final two games of the Cobber Round Robin against Concordia College and Finlandia University. First pitch is scheduled for 10 a.m.
