TUCSON, Ariz. – On Monday, the Bethany Lutheran baseball team continued play at the Tucson Invitational Games. In the first game of the split doubleheader, the Vikings played Wabash College followed by the North Central Rams. In two hard-fought, nine inning contest, BLC dropped a pair to fall to 0-4 on the young season.
GAME ONE: Wabash College 7, Bethany Lutheran 4:
After defeating Bethany Lutheran on Sunday night, the Little Giants completed the series sweep with a 7-4 victory on Monday morning. Sophomore
Anthony Radloff (Green Bay, Wis.) started on the mound for the Vikings. The left-hander threw the game's first six innings, surrendering 10 hits on five earned runs while striking out three batters.
Offensively, BLC scattered eight hits compared to the Little Giants 13. Junior
Walker Linde (Wells, Minn.) led the team with two singles while driving in a RBI in the bottom of the ninth inning. Senior
Alek Zentzis (Forest Lake, Minn.) contributed with two RBI's while junior
John Brown (Lake City, Minn.) added the final RBI to the Vikings box score.
GAME TWO: North Central 6, Bethany Lutheran 5:
In the final contest of the day before BLC takes a break from action, it was the Rams, a member of the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC), earning the 6-5 win over BLC. In total, North Central tallied 11 total hits compared to the 10 from Bethany Lutheran. Leading the Vikings was junior
Kevin Harris (El Paso, Texas), he finished with two hits and three RBI's as the nine hitter in the batting order. Junior
Nick Caldeen (Blaine, Minn.) and senior
Trent Saharek (San Clemente, Calif.) also had two hits.
UP NEXT:
Bethany will take Tuesday and Wednesday off before returning to action on Thursday, March 9
th against Simpson College in a doubleheader. The games will begin at 3 p.m. at the Kino Sports Complex in Tucson, Arizona.
