ASHLAND, Wis. – The Bethany Lutheran softball team began the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) season on Saturday afternoon at Northland College. It was the Lumberjills taking two from the Vikings, 3-1 and 1-0. Following the two losses on Saturday, BLC falls to 6-16 overall on the season and 0-2 in UMAC action.
The Bethany Lutheran Vikings struggled to get the bats going, recording five hits while scoring just one run in 15 total innings of softball.
In game one,
Christina Wickingson (Mason, Wis.) and
Samantha Meginbir (Lloydminster, AB) collected the two hits for BLC. Inside the circle,
Anna Pipenhagen (Elk River, Minn.) pitched all six innings, surrendering three earned runs while striking out seven batters.
In game two, Pipenhagen had a double and single while
Magen Meyer (Spring Valley, Minn.) added a double to makeup the hitting attack for the Vikings in the loss to Northland.

Bethany Lutheran will play its first games at the BLC Softball Field on Wednesday, April 5
th against Martin Luther. First pitch of the UMAC doubleheader is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
